Heyho! some news from wind lidar community today

The IEA Wind Task 32 will be having a workshop on the digitalization of wind lidar ... wait wait... but what is IEA Wind Task 32? Task 32 provides a platform for the open exchange of ideas, experience, and techniques for the use of lidar for wind energy applications. Since 2012 Task 32 has built a strong community that works together to identify and mitigate the barriers to the adoption of wind lidar for wind energy applications.

 Wind energy and many other users of wind lidar are going digital, leveraging decades of developments in programming, more reliable communications, and the internet of things. But what does digitalization mean for wind lidar? Will wind lidar become modular, with an ecosystem of service providers and Apps, ready to give end-users what they need? We don't know. But we know we should be thinking about it. So, we'd like to ask you to work with us and your colleagues through Task 32 to figure out what the digitalisation of wind lidar means. Help us think about how people could use wind lidar in a digital world, and help us figure out what we need to be doing to get there.
